News: 2013: Dr. Chi Zhou, who recently graduated from our lab, will join the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University at Buffalo (SUNY) as an assistant professor starting from July 2013.  Congratulations to Chi! 2013: Our paper “Fast Micro-Stereolithography Process Based on Bottom-up Projection for Complex Geometry” was given the Honorable Mention Paper Award in the 8th International Conference on MicroManufacturing (ICOMM 2013). 2013: Yong was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure. 2013: Yong was invited to speak at the National Science Foundation (NSF) Summer Institute - A Short Course on Additive Manufacturing. 2013: Yong was selected to participate in the National Academy of Engineering (NAE)'s 2013 German-American Frontiers of Engineering Symposium. 2013: Yong was invited to speak at the Advanced Manufacturing Seminars in 2013 Pacific Design and Manufacturing. 2013: Our new dental brace idea was top ranked in the 2012 Ideas Empowered Program organized by the USC Stevens Center for Innovation. 2012: Our paper “Direct Geometry Processing for Tele-fabrication” was given the CAPPD (Computer-aided Product and Process Development) Best Paper Award in the 32nd Annual ASME Computers and Information in Engineering (CIE) Conference. 2012: Our paper “Rapid Manufactruing in Minutes: The Development of a Mask Projection Stereolithography Process for High-speed Fabrication” was given the Best Paper Award (3rd Place) in the 2012 ASME Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference (MSEC). 2012: Yayue Pan's presentation based on our paper “Smooth Surface Fabrication in Mask Projection based Stereolithography” was given the Student Research Presentation Award (3rd Place) in the SME 40th Annual North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC). 2012: Our paper “A Layerless Additive Manufacturing Process based on CNC Accumulation” was given the Outstanding Paper Award - 2012 selected by Rapid Prototyping Journal. 2012: Chi Zhou's PhD dissertation "Optimized Mask Image Projection for Large-area based Additive Manufacturing Process" was given the USC ISE Department Best Dissertation Award in 2012. 2012: Yong was given the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early CAREER Award on the mask projection based additive manufacturing. 2011: Our paper “Self-intersection Free and Topological Faithful Slicing of Implicit Solid” was given the CAPPD (Computer-aided Product and Process Development) Best Paper Award in the 31st Annual ASME Computers and Information in Engineering (CIE) Conference. 2011: Our paper “Additive Manufacturing based on Optimized Mask Video Projection for Improved Accuracy and Resolution” was given the Outstanding Paper Award in the 39th Annual SME North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC). 2010: Our paper “Additive Manufacturing without Layers: A New Solid Freeform Fabrication Process based on CNC Accumulation” was given the SFF Symposium Outstanding Paper in the 21st Annual International Solid Freeform Fabrication (SFF) Symposium. 2009: Chi Zhou's poster “Optimized Mask Image Projection for Additive Manufacturing Process” was selected as the Finalist for the Best Student Poster in the 29th Annual ASME Computers and Information in Engineering (CIE) Conference. 2009: Yong was selected to participate in the National Academy of Engineering (NAE)'s Annual U.S. Frontiers of Engineering Symposium. 2009: Yong was invited to participate in the NSF workshop to Develop a Roadmap for Research in Additive Manufacturing. 2008: Our paper “Layer Depth-normal Images for Complex Geometries” was given the Best Paper Award in the 28th Annual ASME Computers and Information in Engineering (CIE) Conference. 2008: Yong was given the Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer (OYME) Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
