Current Research Activities of Dr. Yan Xiao
His research interests include reinforced or prestressed concrete,
steel structures, composite or hybrid structures, earthquake-resistant
design, and properties of structural materials. As a principal
investigator (PI) or a co-principal investigator (co-PI), he is currently working on the following funded research
projects (funding agencies shown in parentheses).
-PI: "Development of Prefabricated Composite Jacketing for Seismic
Retrofit of Reinforced Concrete Columns (CMI)"
-PI: "Full Scale Column Testing for Parking Structure Retrofit
(Hexel-Fyfe)"
-PI: "Experimental Studies on Seismic Performance and Design of High
Strength Concrete Columns (CCCC)"
-PI: "Experimental Studies on High Strength Concrete Beams (CCCC)"
-PI: "Development of Seismic Design Guidelines for Concrete/Clay Tile
Roofs (NTRMA)"
-PI: "Confinement Effects of FRP Composites to Concrete (XXsys, Master
Builders, Sumitomo, Hexel-Fyfe, etc.)"
-PI: "Experimental Research on Seismic Shear Strength and Design of
High-Strength Steel and Concrete Composite Structural Elements (NSF)"
Co-PI:"Experimental Studies of Two Reinforced Beam to Column Welded Moment
Connections (NSF)"
