The University of Southern California’s Interdisciplinary Violence Research Initiative (USC-IVRI) involves faculty (and some graduate students) from USC and local universities as well as community agency representatives interested in violence research. One of its aims is to facilitate the development of collaborative projects in this very diverse field of violence. Informal meetings are held to facilitate getting to know other faculty from a number of disciplines interested in violence research and to plan the scope and direction of the University’s Initiative. The Initiative also organizes a colloquium series on the theme “Models for Interdisciplinary Research on Violence.” See our colloquium series link for past presenters and topics.


Dr. Penelope K. Trickett, Stein/Sachs Professor of Mental Health, directs the project. The IVRI office is located in the USC School of Social Work Hamovitch Research Center in the Montgomery Ross Fisher Building (MRF) Room 102K. All communication is done via email, unless otherwise requested:
