Outreach

We are dedicated to delivering the new science and technology to next generations and their teachers. We work closely with USC Viterbi outreach office on various STEM projects through VAST program (Viterbi Adopt-a-School Adopt-a-Teacher). In our outreach activities, K-12 students and teachers have hands-on experience within our ongoing research projects. The essential goal is to inspire their interest in science and technology and to promote new generation of scientists and engineers. During the outreach program, we pay special attention to involving students from underrepresented populations in science and engineering to enter the exciting new field of research.

  • USC Viterbi SURE program

      In 2016 summer, our group hosted one undergraduate student, Hau Truong, in collaboration with Viterbi SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) program. He performed creative research in biofouling and clean water.

  • USC Viterbi SHINE program

      In 2016 summer, our group hosted one high school student, Athony Ma, in collaboration with Viterbi SHINE (Summer High School Intensitve in Next-generation Engineering) program. He performed creative research in additive manufacturing of next-generation water membranes.

  • Outreach at Orthopaedic Hospital Medical Magnet High School

      Orthopaedic Hospital Medical Magnet High School is ranked 113rd within California. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement course work and exams. The student Body Makeup is 40 percent male and 60 percent female and total minority enrollment is 99 percent. On Sep 2 2015, We stopped by Ortho to interact with K12 students and teachers to discuss how to take advantage of the emerging additive manufacturing techniques to design artificial organs.
