New synthetic methods and strategies

In addition to our studies of organotitanium and organoboron compounds, we are exploring a number of synthetic methods involving other elements as well as new chemistry of various multifunctional organic molecules.

Several synthetic strategies based on the reactions developed in our laboratories are also under investigation. These include a number of methods that allow the formation of complex carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring systems from readily available starting materials. For example, hydroxy acids can be converted to substituted cyclic ether derivatives, often with very high stereocontrol.
