The Department of Chemistry at USC College has teamed up with the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the USC School of Pharmacy to create an exciting new graduate program in drug discovery (iPIDD). The select group of students invited to join the program will benefit from a truly interdisciplinary graduate education, taking courses in both departments (e.g. medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, pharmacology or molecular pharmaceutics) while participating in cutting edge research with leading faculty at USC. In addition to interdisciplinary coursework and research opportunities, participants will benefit from a joint seminar program and enjoy special iPIDD activities with students from the departments involved in the program.

Since its inception during the 2004-5 academic year, the Interdisciplinary Program in Drug Discovery continues to be an important initiative for enhancing interdisciplinary graduate training in the physical and life sciences at USC. Central to this training are educational and research opportunities fostered by cooperation between the two departments The program remains an important recruiting tool for both departments and a badge of honor for the iPIDD students given its requirement of academic excellence and opportunities for research exposure.
