TOP Modeler™ was designed and built in 1997-1998 by Dr. Les Gasser and Dr. Ann Majchrzak. Their aim was to make available the fruits of their long-term research and development activities, building knowledge, tools, and methods for change management. TOP Modeler™'s unique focus is its emphasis on integrated approaches to managing the Technology, Organizations, and People (TOP) elements of modern organizations and businesses.
Drs. Majchrzak and Gasser have worked together for ten years, initiating, guiding, and managing very large industry-university cooperative research and development efforts in the area of change management and "TOP Integration". We have been key designers and producers of innovative products for analyzing and implementing business change, including:
The HITOP methodology for assessment of TOP Integration (from Industrial Technology Institute);
The HITOP-A (HITOP-Automated) set of tools for knowledge-based analysis and design of TOP-Integrated production workcells---a $600,000 collaboration of Digital Equipment Corporation and the University of Southern California;
The ACTION/TOP-Integrator research and development project, a $10 million, five year collaboration of the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences [NCMS], the University of Southern California, Digital Equipment Corporation, General Motors, Hewlett-Packard, Texas Instruments, the US Air Force ManTech Program, and others.
TOP Modeler™ is a PC-based modeling tool that is designed to help you identify and specify your TOP Integration needs for achieving business success.
