Course Content: Limits; continuity, derivatives and applications; antiderivatives; the fundamental theorem of calculus; exponential and logarithmic functions, corresponding to the material up to Section 5.5 (inclusive) in the text.

• 20% Quizzes. Based on the weekly course assignments, below, will be given every Tuesday beginning August 31st except for weeks of midterms. To accommodate student absences, due to any reason, students are allowed to drop their lowest two quiz scores.
• 5% Two assignments in Mathematica. Assignment 1, due October 28th, Assignment 2 due December 2nd. You may use the resources at the Math Center, or you may download Mathematica from http://www.usc.edu/its/. Please meet your TA in KAP 265 on Thursday, September 23rd for an introduction to Mathematica. Please turn in your Mathematica assignment by saving your Mathematica Notebook under StudentName.nb and turn it in using the Blackboard system following the steps in this BlackBoard Tutorial.
• 40% Two Midterms:
Midterm 1: Monday, September 27th,  covers up to and including Section 2.5 on the Chain Rule.
Two perfect scores of 250/250. 25th percentile = 130, median = 173.5, 75th percentile = 220

Midterm 2: Monday, November 1st, covers from section 2.7 on implicit differentiation to 4.5 on the substitution rule
High score 190, 25th percentile = 62, median = 105, 75th percentile = 150
• There will be no makeup midterm exams
• 35% Final Exam, Wednesday December 15th, 8-10AM in SGM 101. The exam will be comprehensive. A formula ("cheat") sheet that conforms to the following guidelines may be used during the exam: one standard sheet of paper (8 1/2 x 11) in the students' own handwriting; both sides may be used. There are no restrictions on what may appear on the sheet. No calculators.
