Ira S. Kalb is President of Kalb & Associates, a consulting and training firm that specializes in marketing, sales, management and business systems, K&A Press, a publishing firm that publishes books and articles written by Kalb & Associates consultants, and Out-of-this-World Marketing, a boutique firm that creates award-winning marketing communications that effectively sell.
Prior to founding Kalb & Associates, he served eight years as Vice-President of Marketing and President of Compal Computer Systems, a California corporation 25% owned by Xerox that specialized in developing, marketing and installing micro-computer systems and software for businesses.
Before joining Compal, Mr. Kalb spent six years as a staff and senior consultant with such top firms as Andersen Consulting (now Accénture) and Economics Research Associates.  This experience has given him an in-depth background in systems, management, and feasibility consulting as well as a staff perspective of companies, large and small, in many different industries.

  Teaching Experience
Before accepting a full-time teaching position at USC, Ira taught courses in marketing, sales, management, and business systems for major universities around the world including UCLA, Copenhagen Business School, Helsinki School of Economics, California State University at Northridge, and Pepperdine. He has also taught courses and provided seminars for many large corporations and professional organizations.

Ira has authored the following books available from K&A Press: Creating Your Own Marketing Makes Good $ & Sense, E-Marketing: What went wrong and how to do it right, The Fundamentals of High-technology Marketing: What Marketers Need to Know, Marketing Your Legal Services, Nuts & Bolts Marketing, Selling High-tech Products and Services, Structuring Your Business For Success, A Systematic Approach to Professional Selling, and Zero Budget Marketing. He has also authored over 240 published articles and a book for another publisher entitled the DNA of Marketing. His online posts have well over one million page views. As a marketing & business expert, he is often quoted in news stories by other journalists, and appears regularly as a member of an expert panel in the Wall Street Journal.

  Professor Kalb has invented many original marketing tools and concepts that clients and students are employing with great success in the marketplace including the Universal Marketing Structure™, Seven Building Blocks of Marketing™, Universal Business Structure™, Universal Sales System™, Universal Web Structure™, Moving Buying Window™, Sales Army™, Corporate Image Protection System™, Brand Building Process™, Lock and Key Positioning™, and Rowboat Management™.
  The first 4 times eligible, graduating seniors honored him with the Golden Apple Teaching Award in 2009, 2011, 2014. and 2016. This complemented the awards he received as Marketing Professor of the Year from Gamma Sigma Alpha, Professor of Excellence from Delta Sigma Pi, and Professor of Exemplary Performance from Alpha Lambda Delta. Knighted by the Finnish Government as Knight First Class of the Order of the Lion of Finland.
  Professor Kalb holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Bio-Engineering Systems from UCLA, where he graduated with honors. He was elected President of the UCLA Graduate School of Management Students Association for the 1972 academic year. He also attended the Royal College of Art in London. 
  USC Campus Affiliations and Organizations
  Faculty Advisor for the Trojan Consulting Group a student run organizations that does “free” consulting for organizations. Marketing Advisor to the Southern California Business Film Festival. Consultant to the Alfred E.Mann Institute for Biomedical Engineering. Mentor to students. Former member of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, LACI, and Associate Director of the USC Marshall Center for Global Innovation.
  Professional Organizations
  He was elected President of the American Marketing Association in Southern California for the 1995/96 year. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Jazz Bakery and Enkeboll Designs, and is currently on the Board of Advisors of All-Screen Digital.
  Along with physical fitness, music and art continue to be Ira's major hobbies, with many of his original paintings adorning the walls of his home and office.
