Courses I teach:
PPD 560: Methods for Policy Analysis
This course focuses on the methods used in the analysis of public policy choices.  Students are expected to develop and hone their skills in defining public problems and evaluating policy options.  The emphasis is on economic and strategic modeling, decision analysis, risk analysis, and benefit-cost analysis.
PPD 501: Public Sector Economics
This course provides an analytic foundation for policy analysis and public management based on microeconomic reasoning.  Specifically, market failures and mitigation measures of the government and / or non-profit sectors are analyzed.  The course concludes with a short discussion of the macroeconomic concepts of inflation, unemployment, growth, interest rates, and their influence on the public sector.
PPD 313: Finance of the Public Sector
This course examines the role of government in modern market economies, focusing primarily on American policy issues.  It examines the justifications for and effects of government policies, considering both the tax and spending sides of the government budget.  Discussion includes effective and appropriate government economic intervention and the effects of government policies on the private sector.
