Course Material and Goals
Topology provides the language for analysis and geometry. This course
is an introduction to pointset topology. Concretely I plan to cover
the following topics:
Topological spaces, continuous functions, subspace topology, quotient
topology, product topology, connectedness, compactness,
metric spaces, homotopy groups.
Homework will be assigned throughout the week. Homework from each week will be collected on the following Wednesday after class. To save the grader from tracking down old homework, I will not accept late homework.
Collaboration Working in groups is a more efficient way of learning. You are strongly encouraged to meet with other students in the class to study the material of the course and/or get help for the homework. However, the homework you hand in must be written by yourself in your own words.
