CONTEMPORARY CHINESE PIANO MUSIC

This page provides an index to some Chinese composers' and musicians' biographies that I, Elaine Chew, have translated from their original in the Modern and Contemporary Chinese Musicians' Biographies (zhongguo jinxiandai yinyuejia zhuan), edited by Wei Tingge, Spring Wind Cultural Publisher: Shenyang, 1994.

The resources constitutes part of the material I gathered in Beijing, China, in the summer of 1997, when I was on a field trip funded by the MIT Science and Technology Initiative - China program. My goal was to gather information on and scores for contemporary Chinese piano music. Please see the report for trip details and the program for the resulting concert/exhibition, IMPRESSIONS.

I have also attempted to list the websites of some of today's leading Chinese composers and musicians. The list is by no means complete, and comments and suggestions are welcome. -- EC
