beat: A beat is a unit of time used to mark the rhythmic pulse of
music.
glissando: A glissando refers to the act of sliding between two
pitches, passing through all the pitches in between.
measure: A measure, also known as a bar is the amount of
time between two successive bar lines.
meter: The meter denotes the regular (periodic) succession of
rhythmic pulses, the grouping of beats into patterns over time.
note: A note is a symbol that represents two properties, pitch
and duration.
pitch: A pitch is a sound of some frequency. High frequency
sounds produce a high pitch, and low frequency sounds produce a
low pitch.
score: A score is the symbolic notation of a piece of music.
syncopation: Syncopation is the varying of the position of note
stress so as to avoid regular rhythm.
tempo: The tempo, typically measured in beats per minute (BPM),
is the speed at which a piece of music is performed.
time signature: The time signature is a sign placed at the
beginning of a piece of music, or during the course of it,
to indicate the meter of the piece. It normally consists
of two numbers one above the other: the lower denotes the
unit of measurement, and the upper indicates the number of
those units in each measure.
