SPONSORSHIP

FACADE  T E C T O N I C S is a non-profit educational group supporting a broad range of research and educational efforts on the topic of the building envelope.  Sponsors and supporters help fund publications, conferences, workshops, research and scholarships.  All funding is used for direct expenses such as printing, mailing, conference costs, and funding Ph.D. students.  There are no payments to staff or faculty.  The organizationsÕ leadership is entirely composed of volunteers.  Everything we do is focused on advancing the state of the art through research, student scholarships, and educational events.  Contributions have the tax advantages of a non-profit educational 501c3 organization.

PUBLICATIONS

FACADE  T E C T O N I C S publishes a quarterly journal and conference proceedings.  The journal does not accept advertising.  Sponsors provide funding to partially offset printing costs and the costs of paying graduate students to assist with editing, layout, and administration issues.  We have prepared a draft website, and are collecting and preparing white papers and other research content for digital publication.  Starting with the summer 2012 conference, we will also be preparing a printed conference proceedings.

CONFERENCES and WORKSHOPS

FACADE  T E C T O N I C S hosts two regular conferences each year (summer and winter), plus two smaller workshops.  Sponsors help to offset the costs of conference organization (posters, mailings, etc.) plus paid hourly positions for graduate students.  Some conference supporters choose to provide funding for meals or receptions for a conference, and some organize the meals or receptions directly rather than funding through the FACADE  T E C T O N I C S organization.  Our recent conference supporters have included.

RESEARCH

FACADE  T E C T O N I C S seeks support in the form of funded research for our faculty research scientists and our doctoral students.  Grants range from about $5000 and up, and can be structured for short-term or long-term projects.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Certainly one of the most valuable things that a sponsor can do is to choose to provide an endowed scholarship for a doctoral student.  The number of qualified students applying for positions in the doctoral program far exceeds our ability to provide scholarships, and many truly outstanding students from around the country and around the world are turned away each year solely due to lack of funding resources.   We clearly need much more investment in scholarly research in the field of building envelopes.  Scholarships can be in the form of one-time gifts (usually in the range of about $2000) to named, endowed scholarships that last into perpetuity (minimum amount for a permanent, named and endowed scholarship is $25000, which can be gifted to the University over a period of five years).  Endowed scholarships are given annually to our best students.  These scholarships are recognized at all of our conferences and in all publications.
