Research Assistant Position
A research assistant position is available for a new exciting research project – nanosecond microplasmas and their applications in medicine. The primary objective of this research is to understand the novel transient micro-scale, non-thermal plasmas that are generated in ambient atmosphere and their emerging applications for oral and biomedical disinfection. This multi-disciplinary research will involve pulsed plasma system design and fabrication, advanced optical imaging, and bacterial cell culture and handling. The plasma is powered with sub-microsecond or nanosecond, multi kilo-volt pulses. The research assistant will work closely with Dr. Chunqi Jiang, affiliated with the Pulsed Power Group (directed by Dr. Martin Gundersen) in the Electrical Engineering Department, USC, and interact with collaborators at the House Ear Institute and the USC School of Dentistry. Graduate students under PhD program with background in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or physics are encouraged to apply. Professional demeanor and cooperative attitude are required. Strong hands-on experience is preferred.
Note: Position is only open to USC graduate students
