Project Status

1/3/04 Ready to start working on 2003 video project! Send me those videos!

5/5/03 I will start burning copies of the photo CD tonight so have added it to the order form. I have a few orders received by mail pending – I have not shipped or cashed any of the checks so those who want to add the photo CD to their orders can save a little on shipping. I will be in touch with each of these people individually. Dave could not play my generic DVD to make VHS copies – I’ve mailed him a new DVD on Fuji media to see if he can play it successfully. VHS orders will be on hold until we know that we can supply good quality recordings.

4/18/03 All of the orders received through 11:00 this morning have been mailed. Three people have let me know they’ve received their orders and I have updated the compatibility chart accordingly.

4/15/03 All of the orders received through 4/14/03 have been mailed. At least one shipment has been received and are compatible with the order’s DVD player! We have a volunteer to make VHS copies of the DVD – I’ve mailed him a DVD to make sure he can play it and we are working out the cost and shipping details.

4/11/03 I’ve received a few orders! First shipment of DVD’s will go in the mail tomorrow morning. Resolved the problem with the VCD’s and I have a few sets ready to ship. Also decided to burn the MPEG-1 versions of the videos to data CD’s for those who don’t have DVD players or who may want to burn videos on their own media.

4/8/03 I’ve started burning DVD’s! There are eight individual videos totaling a little more than 3 hours of ‘footage.’ Having technical problems burning VCD’s – but these should be ironed out shortly!

1/30/03 I have three more videotapes to convert to DVD – should be done this weekend. Finished (I think) specs for submitting photos.

1/17/03 The project is beginning to take off. I’ve received four videotapes this week with promises of several more on the way. In addition to the DVD, I will be compiling photos to a CD (or several CD’s depending upon the number of photos submitted).

 12/10/02 I proposed the project to the egroup a few days ago… there has been enough interest for me to commit to the project, however, I cannot tell you how many people will send videos or will want to order a DVD or VCD. Yesterday I needed to order blank media for a personal project, so I ordered enough (I hope) to complete my own project and the group project to take advantage of bulk discounts.
